Holiday tip visit the Nemo museum in Amsterdam

Still looking for a fun outing with kids? My holiday tip visit the Nemo museum in Amsterdam. It's been a while since we've been there, but all I can say is that it's really worth it. The Nemo museum in Amsterdam is a fun outing with children.

Nemo museum:science for children

In general, children don't like learning that much. But what if you now package science in super fun experiments and a real DIY museum? That's exactly what they've done at Nemo. Nemo science museum stimulates children's curiosity by offering science at a childlike level. And if you think it's only for young children, then you're wrong:the museum is also great fun for teenagers and even adults.

The museum consists of a number of floors, each with its own theme and especially many interactive corners. Ideal for children, because in this museum you can touch, try out or participate in almost everything. For example, there is a real laboratory, where the children are given a white doctor's coat and can get to work.

Holiday tip visit the Nemo museum in Amsterdam

As mentioned before, we went to Nemo in Amsterdam a while back. We went by train and from Centraal it is a short walk of about 10 minutes and you are already there. The first thing that strikes you about the museum is the architecture:the museum is surrounded by water and the design to resemble a ship.

Once inside, the wonder can begin. We have been there with our kids, my sister-in-law, her husband and our nephew and we were never bored for a single minute. There is really a lot to see and do. For example, you can sit in front of a screen and the computer will show you what you will look like in 10 years, 20 years and as an elderly person. There is a real unfortunately with all the associated bells and whistles, so that children understand what everything looks like. Children can do experiments in a lab (under supervision, with age limit).

The common thread throughout the museum is that children learn more in different areas in a playful way. The museum is furnished with all kinds of interactive screens, devices and much more, so that children can learn through play. And that's not just fun for young children. Nemo is also recommended for the age group 10 – 16 years.

At the very top is a restaurant with an outdoor terrace. There are also stairs where you can sit to enjoy the beautiful view over the water and over Amsterdam. We got fries and some snacks in the restaurant and I have to say that the prices were not that bad. The food is freshly made and just tasted great. The children were also satisfied, although sitting outside was unfortunately a bit disappointing because the weather was not so nice. With good weather it must be beautiful. You also have a nice view from the Ripley's believe it or not museum in Amsterdam.
