Relax in a holiday home in Zeeland; check out these tips!

Are you eager to go on holiday again this summer? Certainly within the Netherlands, all signals seem to point to a nice 'open' holiday where we can forget for a while how the past year has been! Last May we went to Breskens for a week, in a – for us – luxurious holiday home in Zeeland. And how we enjoyed it. The weather was quite good, the sun shone very regularly and the fresh sea air provides new energy. It was not our first overnight stay in Zeeland though. In one way or another, this province has a huge attraction for us.

So if you haven't booked anything for this holiday yet, go and see if you can still go somewhere in Zeeland. For example, book a nice last minute holiday home in Zeeland to recharge your batteries, just like us. In Zeeland you really have many opportunities for fun trips, nice cities for shopping, good food and sun, sea and beach on a silver platter in the summer!

Luxury holiday home Zeeland; go out with your family

As mentioned, last time we were in Breskens with our family (in the luxurious holiday home of 'Grandpa Peter') and we mainly cycled a lot. And do you think that your adolescent or teenager doesn't feel like it? Think again! We also thought it would be difficult to persuade them. But with a nice drink or a delicious lunch on the terrace in prospect, they were not that difficult to motivate. Just stopping in time for some refreshments is the trick.

The best part of our holiday in our luxury holiday home are the conversations we have had while cycling through Zeeland. When you are at home, everyone goes their own way and (understandably) quite a lot of people use their mobile phones. But you can't do that on a bike. For us it was a kind of obligatory family time that was very welcome. After a few days of really talking to each other again (and not just about school and homework and the like) we started to understand each other again. Sometimes you just have to get away for that, you know that?

Cycling in Zeeland

There are several beautiful cycling routes in Zeeland. With winding dikes, villages full of cute little houses and beautiful nature reserves with breeding birds, there is something for everyone. We cycled from Breskens to Groede to take a look at the Bunkerpark Groede Podium and the old city center.

Did you know that Groede is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Netherlands? A real gem! After being told 'no' at various beach bars regarding a place on the terrace, we had a lovely lunch at the Drie Koningen in Groede. A lunch in a luxury holiday home in Zeeland can't compete with that!

Other cycling routes that are fun to discover are:

  • The Bridge Route in Kortgene
  • Channel routes in Middelburg
  • Delta route on the Delta Works in Renesse

Outings in Zeeland

If you have booked a holiday home in Zeeland and you also have the luxury of planning the necessary outings, you can go to Deltapark Neeltje Jans (very cool), the Flood Museum in Ouwerkerk or the lighthouse in West Kapelle where you can enjoy a beautiful have a view over Walcheren. When booking your last minute holiday in the Netherlands, make sure that you take into account exactly where you are booking in Zeeland and what kind of outings there are in the area.

For example, here you will find an extensive overview of playgrounds in Zeeland.

For example, you can really do some fun things in the Netherlands from Breskens, but this side of Zeeland is actually more focused on Belgium. You can of course take the ferry to Vlissingen, but if you want to go by car to Vlissingen, or to Domburg for example, you have to allow about an hour for this. You have to go all the way back through the tunnel. In that regard, our luxury holiday home in Zeeland was not quite conveniently located. But if you limit yourself to outings in Zeeuws Vlaanderen, it's not that bad. And if you are going for a wonderful sun and beach holiday, it does not matter at all where in Zeeland you book your luxury holiday home. As long as it's on the coast!

Are you planning to stay in the Netherlands and have you already booked? Or are you going to look for a last minute?
