How to travel without breaking the bank?

Yes it is possible:some tips and tricks, acquired during my (sometimes bad) experiences in terms of booking, allow you to travel at a low price whatever the destination! You just have to organize your itinerary, your dates and stay open to all possibilities. Instructions for use.

Choose the right destination

To be as economical as possible, you have to be open to travel choices that you would not necessarily have thought of:the airlines for example, but also the SNCF, often offer promotions that you should go through. The easiest way is to subscribe to their newsletters in order to stay informed of new offers.

To travel inexpensively, be also ready to discover unknown places or places about which you have prejudices:a stay there can only remedy this 8 times out of ten. Funny way to see things, but as they say, who expects the worst is never disappointed!

Determining the right moment

Plane and train tickets are more expensive in summer; so, it is better not to rush during the summer holidays – I am not inventing hot water, I know. But I must insist on this point, because if transport increases its prices at this period it is not the only ones:hotels and inns also follow the movement!

Double inconvenience therefore to travel in the rush. Plan your dates of stay according to your availability of course, but above all avoid traveling in high season. And if that's not possible for you, falling back on a less popular destination remains the solution.

The key word, compare

A host of websites allow you to compare the prices of different airlines, often offering interesting promotions – liligo, skyscanner, go voyages, oogolo... These have the advantage of not only relating to flights, but also cruises, hotels, car rentals etc. Low-cost travel can be summed up in two words:patience and perseverance!

In other words, take your time to consult various sources before making your choice. And then wait until nightfall to book because the amount of the administration fees varies according to the time slot with certain internet service providers (no fees between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. with go voyages but a €20 fee between 11 p.m. and midnight)!

In addition, it seems that on Tuesday afternoon, the companies offer the lowest prices... Finally, be aware that often the preferential rates (young people, subscribers, seniors...) offered by Air France can remain the most advantageous .

Book your ticket in advance

Here I am not inventing anything either, but really, the price differences are edifying depending on when you buy your ticket:from simple to triple or even worse. In reality, the trick is not just to book in advance, but to book enough in advance:for example, for a one-way trip by Thalys Paris-Amsterdam, you can get away with it for €45 if the trip is booked the same day it goes on sale. But two months in advance (which is already considerate) the prices can rise to 70 or 100 €! Same thing for plane tickets – you can also book them more than 10 months in advance.

In conclusion, remaining flexible on your departure dates is the first creed of the measured globetrotter.
