Canceled Flight Reimbursement: How Much Can You Claim?

Your flight was canceled? Here's what you're entitled to reclaim, based on our real-world experience.

Recent disruptions like bad weather and strikes have led to widespread cancellations. We've been stranded ourselves and learned that airlines often reimburse far more than your original ticket—you just have to request it.

For European flights, you're eligible for a full refund of the unused ticket, plus reimbursement for any last-minute replacement travel, which is typically pricier. We submitted our receipts to customer service, including a train ticket, and got fully reimbursed—no flight required.

This applies to all airlines, including low-cost carriers. Our EasyJet claim was approved seamlessly, and Air France confirmed they handle similar reimbursements.

Savings Achieved

If the cancellation caused further inconvenience, you may also qualify for standardized compensation on European flights: €250 to €600, based on flight distance and delay duration. For greater losses, you can pursue additional claims through the courts.
