Under French law, SNCF's Voyages Guarantee entitles you to compensation if your TGV is delayed by more than 30 minutes. While the process can seem complex, our proven method—based on real-world experience—makes it straightforward and fast.
During a recent trip from Bordeaux to Paris with my partner, our TGV arrived 33 minutes late. Here's how we claimed and received our reimbursement efficiently.
SNCF now proactively informs passengers of delays and provides envelopes for claims right on arrival—an excellent customer service improvement.

Reimbursements scale with delay length:
Delays of 30-59 minutes yield travel vouchers (valid 1 year, non-extendable, transferable). Book future trips on the expiry date to maximize use. Vouchers apply network-wide (excluding iDTGV and Ouigo).
Redeem at stations or SNCF shops only—not online. Pro tip: Reserve online via voyages-sncf.com (exchangeable fares), note your 6-character reference, then pay with voucher in-person for best rates.
Note: Options available up to 48 hours pre-departure for refundable fares.
Agents often distribute pre-stamped envelopes on arrival:
Otherwise, request at station reception or download from SNCF.
Claim online at programme-voyageur.sncf.com under "Access help" > "Contact us," or use envelope with card number.
Via sncf.com: "Services & Stations" > "Travel Guarantee" > "Punctuality Guarantee" > online claim.
Expect vouchers/refunds in ~15 days, confirmed by our experience.
On June 20, 2013, we received a €9.20 voucher (25% of €37 ticket), valid to June 14, 2014:
