An hour's drive each way to Amsterdam's Pathé Arena cinema for Angry Birds 2 felt like a trek, but it was one of our few summer holiday outings. The kids were buzzing with excitement, so our family of four hit the road at 9 a.m., eager for the film and celebrity sightings from the voice cast. Curious if it's worth your time? Read my honest review as a parent who's seen both films.

We loved the hilarious first Angry Birds film in 2016 and couldn't wait for the sequel. Birds and pigs clash to defend their islands in scenes that cleverly parody human life.
In this installment, a new villain emerges: Mighty Eagle's ex (voiced by Soundos El Ahmadi) attacks from icy Eagle Island. Birds and pigs must unite—Red, Chuck, Bomb, and Mighty Eagle team with Silver, Leonard, Courtney, and Garry to fight back.
Early start for the premiere, but crowds were already massive for stars like Enzo Knol, Bibi, and Saar (one of the Sweet Sisters). My daughter and her friend were starstruck, prioritizing selfies over my review duties. Long lines forced us inside after a lively stage intro and Do's song.
With 3D glasses and popcorn, we dove in. The effect was minimal—no birds or pigs flew at us. Stick to 2D; it's just as immersive and better value.
Perfect family fare with layered humor: kids love the slapstick, adults catch clever gags. Baby birds and piglets steal scenes, voiced by Bibi and Saar. Tip: Check out these Netflix kids' Christmas movies too.
Solid family entertainment—no nonstop laughs, but engaging fun for all ages, including teens.
No pre-show meet-up, but post-film, my husband spotted Enzo. The girls scored a selfie and autograph. Thanks, Enzo—huge for them!
