Game of Thrones Season 5: Explore Croatia's Iconic Filming Locations

Season 5 of the HBO hit series Game of Thrones, adapted from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels, once again spotlights Croatia's stunning landscapes. As seasoned travel experts familiar with the region's hotspots, we'll guide you through the key filming sites that brought Westeros to life.

Filming Locations from Previous Seasons

Dubrovnik has been King's Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, since Season 2. Memorable scenes from Seasons 2 and 3 were captured here, including the Iron Throne room at Fort Lovrijenac and St. Lawrence Fortress, plus Lokrum Island and Trsteno Arboretum. Season 4 kept Dubrovnik as King's Landing, with additional shoots in Split, Klis Fortress, Perun Quarry, and Antonicin Mill-Inn.

Season 5 Filming Highlights

Dubrovnik continues as the seat of the Iron Throne. Production expanded to Split—including Duilovo Beach and Villa Dalmacija, representing Dorne. Šibenik, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, emerges as a fresh location. Kaštela, especially Kaštel Gomilica, stands in for Braavos. Topana Fortress and Imotski Stadium in Split's hinterland also featured.
