Discovering the Netherlands while protecting the environment is possible!

Those who have already been to the Netherlands know it:far from being a tourist attraction, the cruise on the canals of Amsterdam is a must to discover the Dutch capital from another angle. What if we told you that it was possible to do your B.A. on the way? The initiative is the brainchild of the Plastic Whale Foundation. The idea:discover the city in a two-hour stroll on the canals, during which you are invited to fish for all the plastic pollutants you encounter. The recovered plastic is then reused to build boats for cruises, as well as furniture that is offered for sale. Bonus:a reward is planned for the one who catches the most original waste!

A concept that is being emulated

If you are interested in the principle, know that it is better to plan your trip to Amsterdam now:it is possible to book a place on board the cruise every Sunday until April 20, at the price of 25 € (without obligation to fishing, with a snack and drinks offered). Why not afterwards? Well, that's very good news:it turns out that the channels are almost too clean now for the experience to be worthwhile. It is also now offered in Rotterdam, and its creators hope to be able to duplicate the concept elsewhere in the world, in highly polluted areas. In January 2019, 202,000 plastic bottles had been recovered according to the Foundation, the equivalent of 3,800 garbage bags, thanks to the help of more than 22,000 “fishermen”. When is the same initiative on the Seine?
