Spend a night together at the Hoeve van Nunspeet

A while ago I said that it has been too long since we went away for a night together, but a while ago we started catching up. We spent a wonderful two days together and we chatted again during our visit to the Hoeve van Nunspeet. I would like to tell you more about our weekend away, how we liked the Hoeve van Nunspeet hotel and what we have done!

The preparations for our stay in the Hoeve van Nunspeet

You would think… pack your bag and go. But our children can't stay home alone yet, of course. So if we go there, we have to arrange a few things for the children (such as lodging) and all the animals that roam around here. It is true that with their 10 and 15 years old they can already take on the necessary responsibility when it comes to taking care of the animals. We therefore discussed everything in detail before we set out together towards the Hoeve van Nunspeet.

And then it was time….

Because of the hustle and bustle here at home with work, all the renovations, the children's schools and social life, I like to combine the useful with the pleasant. We did a lot in two days. We start our trip in Hilversum where we bring some stuff, shopping wonderful and drink delicious capuccino at Presto Coffee in Hilversum (highly recommended this retro tent † Then we drive towards Fonteyn Spas because I really want to see this large showroom up close (and inside).

The Hoeve van Nunspeet review

From 15.00 we can check in at the Hoeve van Nunspeet. We already know Nunspeet a little bit from our stay at a campsite there, a few years ago. This environment is super beautiful and wonderful to be this time with two people instead of four.

Arriving at our hotel, after a friendly welcome at the reception, we can proceed to our hotel room. Frank and I are both pleasantly surprised. Nice and spacious, but beyond that, everything has been thought of to provide this hotel room with all the comforts.

More information about this hotel can be found here

The hotel room is fully equipped

Our room in the Hoeve van Nunspeet is fully equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed it. What struck me:

  • A very spacious hotel room
  • Curtains that open and close by remote control
  • Beautiful TV 'hidden' in the wall
  • A lot of cupboard space
  • Night light on the floor with motion detector
  • Lovely sun-shower panel with infrared and UV radiation
  • Spacious bathroom with rain shower
  • A nice bottle of prosecco as a welcome gift
  • Free WiFi and so on

Well, those are all the comforts of the hotel room. And then I haven't even mentioned the swimming pool in the Hoeve van Nunspeet and the sauna which you can use for free during your stay. And of the (electric) bicycles which you can rent (or book within a package) to explore the area. All top-notch.

In the hotel itself you also have various 'corners' where it is nice to sit.

the Nunspeet Farm; immediate environment

Checked in and after making the reservation for dinner we first dived into Nunspeet itself. After all, you are on the road to see some of the area. We start walking from the hotel and that is easy, because it is only 5 minutes to the center of Nunspeet † If you have difficulty walking or if you don't feel like walking, you can use the Hoeve Express.

Along the way we take a look at the visitor center which is diagonally opposite the Hoeve van Nunspeet. Since the hotel is located on the edge of the Veluwe, you can also start directly from there with beautiful forest walks and/or cycling routes † Good plan for the next day! Now (end of the afternoon) we feel like a nice drink in the center of Nunspeet. But only after we have 'conquered' the watchtower below.

We 'end' our exploration at club 'de Buuren ', for a drink. The only tent with a night permit that offers entertainment on Saturday evening to the local population of Nunspeet and its tourists 😉 . A very nice club, by the way, where you can drink a glass of wine in the afternoon.

Culinary indulgence in our hotel

During our stay in the Hoeve van Nunspeet we enjoyed a delicious 3-course menu from the menu. It's hard to choose, there's so much good stuff on it. The sleigh cake looks seductively at us, but at corridor number 3 Frank and I both opt for a closing capuccino instead of dessert. It's all been too good!

In addition to a well-cared-for dinner, breakfast is also a small party. There is plenty of choice in different types of yogurt, all kinds of granolas and muesli, omelettes, eggs, fried bacon, cheese, sausage, sweets and all kinds of sandwiches and/or gingerbread. A real continental breakfast. You can pour your own coffee, tea or cappuccino at your leisure and of course you can also drink a juice with your breakfast.

After breakfast we check out (punctually at 10.30am) and cross the street to take a walk in the woods on the other side. It's fun in the woods. The weather is fantastic and it shows in the forest. There are quite a few red caps roaming around on cobblestones, available from the visitor center if you go on one of the four kiddie walks. Full of enthusiasm, the children follow the gnomes in the forest with the yellow, blue, red and green pointed hats. If you have smaller children, it's a lot of fun to do. We dive into the woods without a hat 😉 .

The perfect base for all kinds of trips

As indicated, there is a lot to do in the vicinity of the Hoeve van Nunspeet. But this hotel is also the perfect base for trips a little further afield. If you want, you can, for example, relax for a nice weekend in the nearby sauna complex the Veluwse Bron (check the arrangements of the Hoeve van Nunspeet), but also explore the nicest towns in the area. This time we went to Hattem (super fun) and Harderwijk † The last time we were in Nunspeet (on a campsite in Nunspeet) we did Elburg also really worth a visit.
