Romantic Weekend Getaway for Two: Recharging After Summer Family Holidays

We've eagerly awaited this holiday season, and now we're fully immersed in it. What's on your agenda? Have you already traveled, or are you still planning? Jetting off by plane or driving to the sun? Our family has two weeks of camping lined up, capped off by a romantic weekend getaway just for us.

We embrace 'old-school' camping with a touch of luxury this time—not quite roughing it entirely, though we enjoy that too. There's something satisfying about it, yet after years of tent life, I prefer not trekking across the site with toilet paper in hand 😉. Sound familiar? It's pure bliss for the kids, reveling in freedom with friends. Happy kids mean happy parents. Still, after six weeks of family vacation bliss, my partner and I crave our romantic escape—just the two of us 😉.

A Romantic Weekend Away: Ditching Holiday Stress

Don't get me wrong—I love family holidays, but they come with their share of stress: endless pit stops on the drive, endless packing checks, ensuring clean clothes for everyone, and praying for good weather. Days of rain can strain even the strongest bonds, especially with children. And the post-trip laundry mountain? Overwhelming. Once parenthood hits, your carefree vacation days shift to kid-centric ones. That's why we deserve occasional treats, like our planned romantic weekend away post-holidays to truly unwind 😉.

Post-Camping Luxury Awaits

Camping is fantastic, but our romantic weekend demands indulgence. The kids are blissfully unaware, parked at grandparents' for an all-inclusive stay. We've chosen Bergen op Zoom in Brabant, near the Oosterschelde and Zeeland. Reach the beach in an hour or cruise the Biesbosch nature reserve by boat. Rainy days? Stay put in a wellness-equipped hotel 😉. Topping our list: a chocolate welcome package!

Hotel de Draak

With our little 'dragons' at Resort Opa & Oma, we savor breakfast, a three-course dinner, and wellness access at Hotel de Draak. It's a far cry from campsite BBQs.

Book a room for two via Weekendesk. Families welcome if romance isn't your vibe right now, but we can't picture it 😉. Fair warning: that chocolate package vanishes fast, and the welcome gift might get swiped by tiny hands.
