What comes to mind when you picture a weekend in France? Sipping coffee under the Eiffel Tower or wandering the Champs-Élysées? Those Paris icons are fantastic, but France offers so much more beyond the capital. The glamorous Côte d'Azur is a trek—too far for a quick getaway from the Netherlands, where even Limburg to Groningen feels epic. Yet, stunning regions lie just as close, especially if you're in southern Holland. What's your favorite hidden gem in France?
Everyone should experience a Paris city break once—ideally with that first love. But with kids? Chasing toddlers through a bustling metropolis rarely equals relaxation. They might prefer Donald Duck at Disneyland to the Eiffel Tower. Both are great, but this time, we're seeking something closer and calmer. We usually head to Fréjus on the Côte d'Azur—beautiful, but not weekend-friendly. Now, we're exploring France's diverse gems as a family.

The northern west coast isn't France's top draw, but that's its charm. Pristine nature, reachable in hours—perfect for a pre-summer France fix without the long haul. You'll capture that true holiday spirit, weather permitting. Ever explored northern France's coast beyond Normandy? This stretch delivers beaches and scenery ideal for families. Kids enjoy seaside fun without endless car time—and parents recharge too.
Paris with kids is on our bucket list, but this trip targets the coast. We're staying at Camping Le Ridin, an authentic site near the Bay of Somme. As seasoned campers (we loved a massive Yelloh! Village spot two years back), we're excited for this cozier vibe focused on nature—maybe even spotting seals. Ranked among the world's 30 most beautiful bays, Somme promises magic. We'll rent bikes Dutch-style and roam.

The area blends sea, nature, and culture seamlessly. Think historic châteaux, France's oldest amusement park, and more. Disneyland can wait—we're prioritizing this perfect family timing.
