Family trips can be challenging—we've faced rainy Wadden summers, remote campsites without a car, stormy safari tents, and bustling cities with a baby. Highs and lows, but no regrets. We're proud to push boundaries each time with our three kids (ages 3, 8, and 11) and two adults who need input too. This year, we prioritized sun and playmates. With warmth on our skin and friends for the kids, everything else is a bonus.

Seeking a sunny, relaxing getaway, I explored the Algarve on invitation from the Portuguese Tourist Board. The trip's highlight: a jeep safari into the interior mountains. Expecting a bumpy thrill ride, I discovered authentic charm—picking figs, almonds, and oranges; paddling in rivers; tasting wild honey and eucalyptus; and panoramic views. A gentle adventure through the region's natural bounty.
Near Faro Airport, this nature reserve boasts intricate waterways teeming with birds and fish. From historic Faro, a boat and guide took me to Ilha do Farol for fresh oysters, sardines, and olives amid crashing waves. Nearby golden beaches would delight our kids for hours.

On hot days, AquaShow Park makes you the hero parent. This expansive water park adds new slides yearly, evoking my childhood French park memories. Suitable for all ages with diverse attractions, plus an on-site hotel buffet and pool for multi-day fun.
Beyond aquariums and sea lions, Zoomarine surprised with a pirate spectacle—acrobatics, swordplay, and laughs. After rides and fish viewing, the high-energy show captivated families with flips, rope walks, and aerial stunts.
Cruising azure waters past jagged cliffs and golden coves fulfilled my dreams. The skipper revealed a hidden cave beach—magical light filtering in, serene despite rough seas. A moment of pure wonder; my family must experience this.
