Have you seen the viral video of the cheetahs at Beekse Bergen Safari Park? It's burned into my mind. As parents and recent visitors ourselves, we're stunned by this display of irresponsibility. These visitors clearly misunderstood the park's rules—and they're lucky to have escaped unharmed.

We visited Beekse Bergen Safari Park just a few weeks ago, staying at the Safari Resort Beekse Bergen for an immersive weekend among the animals. As avid wildlife enthusiasts, we've driven the safari route multiple times, spotting cheetahs up close from the safety of our vehicle. It was an unforgettable experience—I shared a detailed review here.
But no one gets as perilously close as this family. The video I saw online left me shocked.
Thankfully, it ended safely, but it could have turned tragic. During our visit, we saw a car ahead open its window near the giraffes—far less risky, yet the safari bus driver quickly enforced closure. Were these parents unaware of the dangers, or did they simply ignore the rules?
At first, they film from outside the car, with cheetahs appearing uninterested. But then, with a small child, they step out—and two cheetahs stealthily approach. They scramble back inside just in time!
For a safer thrill, here's our own footage from the safari drive under the giraffes' glass roof. Lotte couldn't get enough 😎.
