A while back, I realized it had been too long since my partner and I escaped for a night away. Lately, we've been making up for lost time, including a delightful two-day retreat at Hoeve van Nunspeet. In this honest review, I'll share our experience at this charming hotel, from the accommodations to nearby adventures.

Packing a bag and heading out sounds simple, but with kids and pets at home, planning is key. Our children, aged 10 and 15, can handle animal care responsibilities, but we reviewed everything thoroughly before departing for Hoeve van Nunspeet.
And then it was time...
Amid our busy home life—work, renovations, school, and social commitments—I love blending errands with enjoyment. We kicked off in Hilversum, dropping off items, enjoying wonderful shopping, and savoring a delicious cappuccino at Presto Coffee (highly recommended—this retro spot). Next, we headed to Fonteyn Spas to explore their expansive showroom up close.
Check-in begins at 3 PM at Hoeve van Nunspeet. We'd visited Nunspeet before at a nearby campsite, but this couple's trip in this stunning area felt even more special.
After a warm reception welcome, we headed to our room. Both my partner Frank and I were impressed by the spacious setup and thoughtful amenities.

Our room at Hoeve van Nunspeet had everything we needed, and we made full use of it. Highlights included:
That's just the room—the hotel also offers a swimming pool and sauna for free use, plus rentable (electric) bicycles to discover the area. All top quality. Cozy seating areas abound throughout the hotel.
After check-in and reserving dinner, we explored Nunspeet. It's just a 5-minute walk to the center from the hotel—or hop on the Hoeve Express if needed.
We peeked at the visitor center across the street, perfect for starting beautiful forest walks and cycling routes on the Veluwe's edge. Ideal for tomorrow! That afternoon, we climbed the watchtower and relaxed with drinks at club 'de Buuren'—the local spot with evening entertainment and a great vibe for wine in the sun.
We savored a delicious 3-course dinner from the menu—choices galore. The salad tempted us, but for the third course, we both chose cappuccino over dessert. Everything was exceptional!
Breakfast was equally impressive: yogurts, granolas, muesli, omelets, eggs, bacon, cheeses, meats, pastries, breads, and rolls. A true continental spread. Help yourself to coffee, tea, cappuccino, or juice.
After breakfast, we checked out at 10:30 AM and strolled into the woods opposite. Perfect weather brought out red-capped mushrooms along the paths—grab maps from the visitor center for family gnome hunts (yellow, blue, red, green hats). Fun for kids; we enjoyed the trails sans hats.
Hoeve van Nunspeet is ideally located for local adventures and beyond. Unwind at nearby Veluwse Bron sauna (check hotel packages), or visit charming towns like Hattem (super fun), Harderwijk, and Elburg—all highlights from our prior Nunspeet trip.
