48 Hours in Ajaccio Bay: A Curated Corsican Escape

Saturday

10 a.m. Step into Maison Galéani (3 Rue du Cardinal-Fesch), Ajaccio's oldest bakery, for homemade canistrelli or bruccio donuts. The family-run spot offers warm hospitality and impeccable pastries.

10:30 a.m. Head to the Palais Fesch (50 Rue du Cardinal-Fesch) to admire Italian primitives by Botticelli, Veronese, and Titian. For a personal touch, book a visit to artist Fanfan Salvini's studio, where he captures Corsica's soul in landscapes and evocative women's portraits.

5 p.m. Check into the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Ajaccio, a luxurious seaside retreat resembling a cruise liner on Agosta Beach. Opened in 2012, it features a stunning sea-view pool. On cloudy days, unwind with a massage or hammam at the spa.

7 p.m. Choose your evening: 1) Return to Ajaccio for traditional fare at Le Roi de Rome (14 Rue du Roi-de-Rome), followed by drinks at a bar in Place du Général-de-Gaulle. 2) Drive to nearby Porticcio for beachside dining at Le Colisée, then St. James. 3) Savor dinner on the hotel's A Muvra terrace.

Sunday

10 a.m. Indulge in the Radisson Blu's legendary "super breakfast"—fresh pastries, Corsican charcuterie, and panoramic views of the Iles Sanguinaires. The sea-view gym tempts, but it's hard to leave the table.

11 a.m. Lounge poolside or cross to the sandy Agosta Beach for a refreshing dip.

2 p.m. Join Corsica Cruises for a half-day tour around the Iles Sanguinaires, a haven for seabirds like cormorants and gulls. Anchor at the stunning Sept Navires rock formations for swimming in crystal-clear waters, overlooked by the 1608 Genoese Torre dell'Isolella.

6 p.m. Check out... or extend your idyllic stay?
