Situated southwest of Budapest in Hungary, the quaint village of Megyer (Méjeure) is home to just 18 residents. For €700 per day, you can take over the entire village.
This includes seven houses, a chicken coop, and a post office. You'll gain access to four streets (two paved), a cultural center, a stylish bus stop, seven fully furnished peasant-style houses, a farm with six horses, two cows, three sheep, the chicken coop, and four hectares of arable land owned by the village cooperative. Plus, settle into the mayor's office—the current mayor has even included his position in the deal.
Mayor Kristof Pajer shared with AFP: "According to a law that I introduced, a foreigner can also become mayor for a weekend, and even change the names of the streets if he wants."
The aim? To boost Megyer's visibility and generate funds for development. This lesser-known gem is poised for buzz with this innovative rental offer. Check out the original Hungarian announcement and more photos by clicking here.
