Montreal proclaimed city to visit in 2017

Frommer's Travel American travel guides are very well known in the United States, but also around the world. The first edition of the guide came out in 1957, a work by Arthur Frommer, which proposed to “travel for $5 a day”. Since then, the guides have kept a certain notoriety and designate each year a city to visit. In 2017, the distinction goes to Montreal. That's good:the city is celebrating its 375th anniversary this year and a total of more than 175 events will be organized there throughout the year.

A city of astonishing diversity

Like many large cities in North America, Montreal is a city that has many buildings surrounded by large stretches of highway. Not pretty ? But yes, you just have to look at it a little closer. Going deeper into the city, we discover a whole host of bustling and very different neighborhoods. In Mile-End and in the streets of the Plateau, you can enjoy the bars and restaurants (this is the hype corner of the city). You can go party in the heart of the Latin Quarter or in the Gay Village. You can even visit the city's Chinatown for a little more originality. Among the 175 activities recommended by the guide, we have retained:visit the underground city, enjoy the ice rinks (in winter), stroll in Parc La Fontaine in search of squirrels or even visit the Old Port, a charming place from which you can observe the St. Lawrence River.

So we let ourselves be tempted by a Canadian journey? Now is the time!
