With the rise of digital communication, dream jobs offering extraordinary travel adventures have become a reality. In summer 2017, sailing cruise specialist Sailsquare offered a rare opportunity: become an "Ocean Trotter" to test their services on a global tour spanning the Mediterranean, North Sea, South American coasts, and Southeast Asia.
The viral job posting drew over 3,000 applications from 18 countries—and a Frenchwoman clinched the fully paid permanent position. Meet 26-year-old globe-trotter Alyzée Joy Montana, whose standout candidacy featured an aerial photo of beachgoers spelling "Sailsquare Hire Me" on the sand.
Her creativity peaked when she shipped an actual anchor to Sailsquare's offices. Maxime Courtaigne, the startup's France director, shared: "We didn’t choose Alyzée; she stood out with her originality and creativity—qualities perfect for this dream role." From April to September 2018, Alyzée promoted sailing cruises' unique appeal using pro gear like cameras, drones, and mics. She alternated two weeks ashore and two at sea on luxurious vessels, including classic tall ships. Her journeys became a captivating web series on Sailsquare's site. She kicked off in Cuba on a catamaran—fair winds and following seas!
