Summer holidays have wrapped up across the Netherlands. Vacations are delightful, but returning home brings its own comforts—chief among them, slipping into your own bed. An Essent survey of 750 Dutch residents on home comforts shows 79% of women (versus 69% of men) eagerly anticipate this simple pleasure.
Our familiar home environment ranks second, especially for childless respondents (60%) over parents (52%). The generous space of one's own home comes third (37%), a welcome change from cramped holiday digs—particularly valued by homeowners (42%) and parents (40%). Homeowners (38%) and parents (36%) also cherish their private bathroom more than renters (29%) or singles (23%). Notably, men rank lounging on their couch higher than women, who prefer reuniting with pets (38% vs. 26% for men).
