The 14th Istanbul Biennial launched last Saturday and continues until November 1, 2015, under the captivating theme Saltwater. Over 80 artists and collaborators from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and North America showcase their works across 30 venues on both European and Asian shores of the Bosphorus. These include museums, as well as innovative temporary spaces on land and water—such as boats, garages, and former bank buildings.
Saltwater: A Theory of Thought Forms probes the boundaries of thought and creativity through organic, non-linear forms that bridge artistic research with diverse disciplines. Exhibitions unfold on water surfaces, accessible planes, and even underwater depths. Participants encompass more than 80 artists alongside experts like oceanographers, storytellers, mathematicians, and neuroscientists, distributed across numerous Bosphorus sites.
