Nearly 40% of Dutch Campers Embarrassed by Toilet Noises, Edet Survey Reveals

According to a recent Edet survey, nearly 40% of Dutch campers feel ashamed of the noises they make in campsite toilets. Yet, 97% have no qualms about walking across the site with a toilet roll in hand.

Once inside the facilities, embarrassment peaks, particularly among younger campers—three-quarters under 30 report discomfort, compared to over half of those over 40. Noises top the list, followed closely by lingering odors.

No less than 80% bring their own toilet paper, with nearly a quarter packing both dry and moist options. Some habitual moist wipe users at home skip them on campsites, citing the inconvenience of carrying them to the toilet block.

Over half of campers agree that campsite toilets are cleaner than before. Cleanliness is non-negotiable, alongside hygienic handwashing and drying options. Fresh scents and dry floors matter less.
