Late summer outings in nature

The summer holidays are over for many people, but late summer is still a wonderful time to go out in our own country. The foresters of Natuurmonumenten have made a selection of late summer activities in nature.

Searching for shells and spotting seals

Join the Balgexpress on Schiermonnikoog. De Balg is the place on Schiermonnikoog to see seals. During low tide they lie on the sandbank on the other side and regularly swim by curiously. The Bellows is also a good place to look for shells. Multiple dates, see:nm.nl/balgexpres

Boots on and go!

Farmer Dennis Rerink takes his guests through the meadows every week, tells in colors and scents about the wild flowers, the bright red cattle and farm life in Twente. Cows graze, you can enjoy a cup of coffee in peace on the patio or on the terrace, chickens scurry around. Saturday, August 29 – 10:30 to 11:30, see nm.nl/bio-boerderij

Taste, smell, hear, feel and look

Take a walk with the volunteer forester and use all your senses. Stroll through the Dintelse Gorzen and enjoy beautiful views over the Krammer Volkerak and the dry creeks. Saturday 29 Aug. – 14:00 to 14:30, see:nm.nl/smaakelijke-wandel

Survival on a fortress!

Do you dare to sleep in an exciting place? During the OERRR fort survival at Fort bij Spijkerboor, the fort guards teach you how the soldiers used to live at the fort and you can sleep in the fort at night. Saturday 05 Sept. – 6:00 pm to Sun. 06 Sep. – 9:00, see:nm.nl/survival-fort-nagelboor
