Do you want to learn about green holidays? Visit gardens!

Between pollution, traffic and the incessant hubbub of urban centers, not to mention overcrowding and lack of space...living in big cities is far from a piece of cake. That's why I regularly treat myself to all-nature breaks.

Take a tour of the gardens of France

No need to travel hundreds of kilometers to find yourself in the middle of nature, far from the noise and the unhealthy atmosphere of the urban area. Even better, you may not even need to leave your region, your department, or even your district. Impossible you say? In my opinion not at all so similar to me, you also like walks in botanical parks and gardens.

Public or private, these spaces are not lacking in France. Moreover, if I am not mistaken, France is one of the few European countries with the most. And if you like these discovery visits, let yourself be tempted by one of the garden ideas to visit offered on this website.

We are truly spoiled! The proof, just in my region, I have already visited four.

For people who will soon be staying in Marseille or in the surrounding towns, the gardens of the Domaine de Charance are home to a magnificent English garden. Otherwise, to admire the works of the contemporary artist Max Sauze, go to the Eguilles garden:the site has been labeled "Jardin Remarquable" since 2005.

A short guide to green tourism

We talk about ecological tourism when during your holidays, you do everything to limit your impact on the environment. I admit it, at the beginning, it was very difficult for me to correct my bad habits. However, with a lot of patience and good will, I adapted very quickly. Thus, to limit greenhouse gas emissions, I now avoid distant destinations, especially those that require me to take a plane to get around.

Hence my preference for French cities where carpooling is very common. Otherwise, I also regularly take the train. Furthermore, as I like the fresh air and flowery green spaces, I prefer destinations that have pretty gardens. And of course, like any responsible eco-tourist, I only book in certified green tourism accommodation, i.e. offering one of the labels such as:European Ecolabel, Green Key, Accueil paysan or Ecogîte .

Finally, the activities and leisure to practice during your holidays must also be respectful of nature. But I assure you, on this side, you are not likely to get bored at all since the choices and possibilities are numerous. And apart from garden visits, for example, I like to go hiking, put fish back in the water after catching them or even buy my travel souvenirs directly from local craftsmen.
