Last weekend, our family escaped to Dierenbos Holiday Park in Vinkel, part of the Libema group (home to the Safari Resort we've visited before). We packed our bags Friday afternoon with excitement for quality time together. The best part? Just a 20-minute drive from home in Schijndel. The kids were stunned: "Hey, are we there already?" Yes—we had arrived at Dierenbos!
We parked at the Damhert (fallow deer) bungalow, right at the front near an outdoor playground with meadow views from our bedrooms. It felt wonderfully private—perfect for recharging amid the peace, even if we enjoy being around others.

Just minutes from 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) and easily accessible from the A59 highway, Dierenbos is a short hop for locals like us. A grand tree-lined avenue welcomes you, with fallow deer bungalows near the entrance. Reception is a short walk ahead—perfect for strolling around on foot during your stay.
Accommodations are whimsically named after animals, from stone bungalows and wooden chalets to treehouses, lodge tents, group farms, villas, and spots for your own caravan or tent.
Our kids immediately claimed beds upon arrival, but we secured the master with its infrared sauna. A quick duvet swap kept everyone happy. I aired out the freshener scent for natural breezes—personal preference, as my husband didn't mind.
We stayed in the luxury Damhert bungalow with a hot tub. My husband fired it up right away; the kids couldn't get enough, jumping in three times over our Friday-to-Sunday stay. First heat-up took time—filling with cold water and burning three bags of wood until 10:30 PM. We piled in cozy despite the chill, chatting under the stars. Pure bliss.
Dierenbos punches above its weight with playgrounds galore—a Libema signature, like at Beekse Bergen.
Every accommodation field, including tent and caravan sites, has compact playgrounds with swings, slides, and climbing frames—ideal for toddlers, right where parents can watch.
Bigger spots feature huts, slides, swings, and even a cable car for adventurous fun.
Sandpits everywhere—ours came home with us too!
We bumped into acquaintances (small world, just 20 minutes from home) but hit the mini golf anyway. Our son's obsessed; he took his sister's win in stride (mostly).
A modest indoor pool offers hours of splashing while parents sip cappuccinos on the terrace. Note: Kids under 8 need supervision, even with older siblings—cut our fun short this time, but better than stricter spots like Duinrell's Tiki Pool.
The outdoor pool awaits summer; paddling spots near playgrounds and lodge tents mimic a beach scene, buzzing even at 21°C last Sunday.
A family favorite to cap our trip: an hour of bowling, sodas, and bitterballen. Dad dominated with strikes.
Anglers rejoice at the large pond (rules posted; no huge koi from mini golf area). Dogs prohibited, naturally.
Explore alpacas, fallow deer, ponies, pot-bellied pigs, chickens, rabbits, and birds in spacious aviaries. Endless delight.
