In early May last year, we visited Lanzarote with our children. This volcanic island captivated us with its varied landscapes and mild climate, ideal for little ones. Despite limited prior research, we found it exceptionally welcoming for families.
Lanzarote offers volcanoes, pristine beaches, serene nature spots, and dramatic coastlines. The lunar-like volcanic "moonscapes" are a highlight, providing endless wonder for kids.
Flying with kids is straightforward, and renting a car for two weeks gave us flexibility. We based ourselves in Costa Teguise, steps from the boulevard and playgrounds equipped for toddlers—think baby swings and low climbers.
Be prepared for occasional winds; pack layers for everyone. The island measures 62 km by 21 km, so our central spot allowed easy access north and south. For hikes, an ergonomic baby or back carrier is essential.
