Some leaders truly excel at year-end appreciation. Gary Bertch, CEO of furniture manufacturer Bertch Cabinets, celebrated his team's outstanding performance by gifting all 800 employees a fully funded one-week Caribbean cruise—a morale booster for the year ahead.
The announcement lit up Facebook: "Bertch is delighted to announce that we are all going on vacation! We will be closed January 9-13 so we can set sail for the Caribbean sun! This trip would not have been possible without the hard work of our amazing Bertch associates! Happy holidays everyone!"
The trip launches Sunday, January 8, 2017. Employees board four chartered flights to Miami for a night at a 5-star hotel, then embark on a week-long cruise through the Caribbean. Back to work the next Monday, recharged.
This generous tradition resumed after a hiatus since 2005 due to economic challenges. Online reactions poured in, with many expressing envy and even joking about job switches to join Bertch Cabinets.
