3 tips for booking your next vacation

Organizing your holidays is not always easy. And we are not talking about packing the suitcase, which can also be a real headache, but about booking flights and hotels. Yes, we don't think about it enough but to get the best prices, there are a few little tips that can be very useful. The online travel agency Expedia has revealed some tips to know before booking your vacation.

1/ Choosing the right month to book our trip

Once we have decided to go on vacation, we think about our destination, our departure date, what we will be able to do on site, where we will stay but rarely when to book our trip. And yet, some months are more conducive to booking than others. In January, for example, flight offers are often attractive when departing from a European airport, except if you are going to the United States. In this case, it is better to do it in September. For the Middle East, February is the most favorable month to expect more attractive prices. Regarding the hotel reservation, it is advisable to do it in January or November because the rates are among the best at these times. On the other hand, March, July and August are to be avoided if you want to save some money.

2/ Book flights on a Sunday

Now that we have been informed about the months that are best for booking, we must also take into account the days on which to book your flights. According to historical trends observed by Expedia and ARC (Airlines Reporting Association), it would seem that Sundays are ideal. Prices can drop by 13% when Europeans travel to Asia-Pacific, by 22% for flights from Europe to the United States and the saving can be up to 30% for flights within the Europe. Friday is to be avoided because many business trips are booked on that day, which leads to higher prices.

3/ Book flights and hotel in advance

We probably don't tell you anything, but booking your plane tickets at the last moment is not advantageous. On the other hand, looking ahead three or four weeks, the savings can reach 34% from Europe to the United States, 30% within Europe and 22% from Europe to Asia Pacific. And for the more organized who really do it in advance, it is advisable to book more than 85 days in advance for trips to Europe, 180 days from Europe to the United States and 171 days from Europe to Asia. For the hotel room, it's a bit the opposite. The longer you wait, the lower the prices. The problem is that the offer is reduced at the same time... so we still prefer to anticipate and book 3 to 4 weeks in advance.

A whole organization, we said!
