The vivid red soil, dotted with cacti, evoked African landscapes. Numbered cork oaks underscored Portugal's position as the world's leading cork producer. A tour of the Novacortica factory revealed the intricate cork-making process, transforming my view of it forever. Echoes of Moorish heritage—from over five centuries of Arab rule—linger in Alte's whitewashed chimneys, Loulé's market architecture, and the name "Algarve," from Arabic "Al Gharb" (the West).

 

To Experience Pure Thrills

A helicopter ride along the coastline and adrenaline-fueled laps on the Autódromo International do Algarve—one of Europe's top circuits—delivered heart-pounding excitement. But nothing topped my dawn walk through the Epic Sana hotel's gardens, weaving via pine forest along cliffs above Falesia Beach. Sheer vertigo! Especially after spotting the "caution danger" sign on the way back...
