Generation Y Travel Habits: Insights from a Survey of 300 Students

At Hundredrooms, we help travelers compare accommodations to plan unforgettable trips. Our recent study surveyed 300 students aged 20-35 from Sciences Po Lille and across France, revealing key insights into how Generation Y approaches travel. Young travelers prioritize price and authenticity when selecting rentals, while also valuing reviews from fellow adventurers. They gravitate toward old towns and historic centers for that genuine experience.

Generation Y's Smart Travel Strategies

Digital natives, Gen Y excels at snagging online deals and using comparison sites. While searches often start on smartphones, they prefer computers for secure bookings and payments. Notably, 54% cap nightly rental budgets at €50. Europe tops their list for its rich history and culture, with mountain escapes favored over beaches. They travel frequently—every three months on average, peaking in summer—and plan meticulously, booking 3-6 months ahead.
