Inspiring Global Adventure: Quadriplegic Nathalie Filice Travels the World in a Wheelchair

After a life-changing car accident left 30-year-old Nathalie Filice from Vaucluse paralyzed from the waist down, she refused to let it limit her dreams. Teaming up with her best friend Karen, Nathalie is embarking on a year-long world tour in her wheelchair. Her mission? To uncover the best accessible travel options for people with disabilities. She's founded the Tetra Trip association to make travel inclusive for all. In October, they'll head to the Pacific for an epic journey.

A Tough Start

Her resolve stems from a harrowing experience post-2010 accident. As shared in La Provence newspaper, a trip to Punta Cana was a nightmare—no accessible restrooms or suitable accommodations. Determined to change that, Nathalie created Tetra Trip to scout wheelchair-friendly destinations worldwide. Their Pacific itinerary includes Australia, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and New Zealand. Nathalie aims to produce a comprehensive backpacker's guide for wheelchair users, with all insights shared online via Instagram and Facebook. The adventure isn't cheap—66,000€—so she's launched a GoFundMe campaign to open these opportunities to everyone.
