Practical essentials like sturdy shoes, a reliable backpack, credit card, sleeping sheet, flip-flops, flashlight, and multi-tool pocket knife also top recommendations. Nearly 20% of seasoned travelers dismiss mosquito nets as unnecessary weight—hostels in needy areas provide them. Overpacking medicines or luggage, however, hinders the journey.
