After a delightful family day out, I stumbled upon a gem in The Hague: Lunchroom Waldeck. This inviting spot shines for both indulgent high teas and satisfying lunches.
Lunchroom Waldeck is a compact yet incredibly cozy lunchroom in The Hague. On sunny days, the terrace is perfect. When the weather turns or you prefer indoors, the spacious interior accommodates larger groups comfortably for a relaxed meal.
For my husband's aunt's birthday, we savored a high tea here. As someone who isn't big on sweets, I was pleasantly surprised by the savory options too. It kicked off with tea, coffee, or soda—high tea doesn't require tea!
First came sweet treats: glazed donuts, apple and cherry sheet cakes, followed by étagères of bonbons and chocolate-dipped strawberries, which flew off the stands.
Then, the savories arrived—my highlight! Sausages in puff pastry and mini balls stuffed with gherkins, brie, ham, and more.
Drinks were topped up regularly—tea for most, coffee or soft drinks for others. The snacks were delectable, especially for sweet lovers.
Peeking at nearby plates (guilty pleasure!), the lunches looked amazing too. My husband's aunt, a regular, raves about the generous portions and value: burgers from €6.50, full meals around €10. Service is attentive and friendly, ensuring nothing's missing.
