Checkpoint Theater delivers an electrifying interactive family show brimming with hands-on experiments and safe explosions. Audience members, including kids, join the action both onstage and from their seats—perfect for children who can't sit still. As a parent who's taken my own kids (ages 10, 8, and 6) to the Nieuwegein theater, I can vouch for the non-stop excitement.
'Put on your safety goggles and ear protection—explosions ahead!'
As the alarm sounds, everyone grabs their provided safety gear, which you'll use throughout. The anticipation builds, but rest assured, everything is meticulously safe. Interactive science captivates kids, and this show nails it.

Host Rachel Rosier and her assistants dive into fascinating science experiments while pitting boys against girls in friendly competitions. It sparked playful rivalry in our family—mom and daughter versus the boys! 😊
The show features diverse demos: mini-explosions, leaf-blower art, and mind-blowing facts. Walk on water with cornstarch? How many balloons lift a person? Or sheets of newspaper to cushion a 2.5-meter bowling ball drop? Educational and thrilling.
Kids from the audience participate in hovercraft tests, Velcro wall challenges, and directing smoke cannons—boredom is impossible!
The magic lies in its interactivity: shouting clues, standing up, or even joining onstage. For 1.5 hours, the energy is relentless, and time flies. Post-show, my kids burst out energized, cheeks flushed. 'This was awesome, Mom!' echoed all three. They recounted every detail to Dad that night and at breakfast the next day.
We loved this dynamic show. Recommended from age 8, my 6-year-old was hooked—attention held by seamless pacing and rapid demos. Hats off to the backstage crew for flawless setups.
