Our visit to Landal Reeuwijkse Plassen was full of pleasant surprises. Last December, my partner Frank, our daughter Lotte, and I headed to the Green Heart of the Netherlands for a weekend getaway at this park, with a side trip to Gouda. In this honest review, drawn from our firsthand experience, we'll cover the park's appeal, its indoor swimming pool, dining options, and accommodations.
A pro tip for Landal visitors: Download the Landal Adventure app for a digital treasure hunt that keeps kids entertained. For international options, see our review of Landal Bad Kleinkirchheim.

You might worry about a holiday park so close to the highway, but we were quickly proven wrong upon arrival. Despite its prime location, it delivers a peaceful retreat.
Perfectly positioned just 30 minutes from Utrecht and The Hague, Landal Reeuwijkse Plassen serves as an ideal base for exploring the Randstad or nearby gems like Gouda (a quick 10-minute drive). Yet, bordering the scenic Reeuwijkse Plassen lakes, it feels worlds away. Most homes sit waterfront, allowing seamless access to nature trails and water activities.

We stayed in a modern 4-person children's cottage on the dedicated Kids' Island in the park's newest section. These homes are thoughtfully designed for families, with the island fully fenced for safety—ideal for toddlers to play freely on the central playground without water worries.
Options range from comfort to luxury waterfront homes, some with saunas. Exteriors blend wooden aesthetics with the natural surroundings, while large windows flood interiors with light. Parking is ample, though on Kids' Island, it's just outside the secure fence.
Our spacious cottage featured Lotte's private bedroom with a fun chalkboard door, a games corner, child-sized toilet seat, stair gate, bathroom step stool, and extra cot. The fully equipped kitchen overlooks the playground—perfect for supervising playtime.
This park exemplifies Landal's commitment to eco-friendliness, holding a Green Key certificate. Homes use air-source heat pumps for efficient heating/cooling, and solar panels on the central building power the entire site. It's reassuring to holiday sustainably without sacrificing comfort.
The indoor pool is spacious for laps or relaxation but lacks slides or splash zones—fine for casual swims, less so for water-obsessed kids. With surrounding lakes for boating (rent canoes, SUPs, or whisper boats; many homes have jetties), summer water fun shines outdoors. For subtropical pools, check our Landal de Lommerbergen review.
We relished fresh breakfast rolls delivered daily and a gourmet dinner kit from the Parkshop—smoke-free indulgence without cooking hassle. On-site Restaurant Mercatu offers quality lunches, dinners, coffee, and wines, drawing locals too. An ice cream parlor adds delight, with more eateries nearby.
Kids love the pool, lakes for boating/fishing/SUPping, playgrounds, cycling/walking trails, play loft (climbing, billiards, air hockey), nature play island (ziplines), and Bollo the mascot. Check the heat pump cupboard for free outdoor toys!
