On holiday to Austria; the second time in Landal, but for the first time in Bad Kleinkirchheim

A few years back, we took our first family summer vacation in Austria at Landal Viehhofen. This time, we explored a new region: Carinthia, choosing Landal Bad Kleinkirchheim. Our previous Landal stay left lasting fond memories, so we were eager to return.

Spending your holiday in an apartment?

Staying in a self-catering apartment might seem unconventional, but as repeat visitors, we can vouch it's perfect—especially in Austria, where the focus is on exploring the stunning surroundings. If beach lounging isn't your style, this destination shines for active families.

We're not big on all-day sunbathing; we prefer hiking nature trails and visiting towns. Apartments suit us ideally since we're out most days. After a long trek, unwinding on the balcony beats a sprawling lawn. The kids love crashing on the couch with free WiFi—teen-approved. Landal Bad Kleinkirchheim's units were spotless, roomy for six, and quiet, just as expected.

Landal parks suitable for young, old and everything in between

What sets Landal apart is its appeal to all ages. Playgrounds and pools entertain toddlers, while teens have billiards, table football, and evening fire pits. Tennis courts add variety here, and on-site restaurants offer dine-in or takeaway convenience.

Review:how did we like Landal Bad Kleinkirchheim?

Our six-person apartment was spacious, immaculate, and peaceful—standard for Landal, in our experience. What stood out was the high number of Dutch families with kids aged 3-15, making it easy for ours to connect in their native language. Our neighbor chose it specifically for that reason. With new park friends from day one, parenting felt effortless.

We kept to ourselves, prioritizing outings and cozy evenings in.

The Landal park itself

Green, scenic, and village-like with well-spaced chalet-style buildings, playgrounds dotted throughout, and a charming stream—the park exudes tranquility. Dutch-speaking staff at reception and a solid restaurant menu sealed the deal.

The swimming pool

Our daughter Lotte and husband Frank enjoyed the indoor pool (his domain—outdoors are mine). Not massive, but ample with a dedicated paddling pool for little ones.

Organized activities at Landal Bad Kleinkirchheim

Activities abound for park-focused stays: kids' crafts, sports sessions, and Sonnenscheincard perks like surfing, mountain biking, animal walks, baking, kayaking, and tennis. Advanced options include guided rafting or canyoning.

Bollo Club favorites—campfires, treasure hunts, torch walks—plus BBQs, cocktail mixing, and pizza classes rounded out the fun. We skipped them for spontaneity, but fresh bread deliveries were a hit: doorstep breakfast and packed lunches for mountain picnics.
