Airbnb's Top 5 Neighborhoods to Explore in 2016, According to 40 Million Travelers

Airbnb analyzed stays from over 40 million travelers between 2014 and 2015 to reveal the top neighborhoods to visit in 2016. As travel experts familiar with global trends, we've highlighted these standout spots based on guest favorites.

Topping the list is Chuo-ku in Osaka, Japan, the trendiest destination for 2016. Japan's third-largest city boasts a vibrant arts scene, bunraku puppet theater heritage, lively nightlife, trendy districts, and exceptional cuisine. Don't miss Osaka Castle, Shitennōji Temple, or the world-class Kaiyukan Aquarium.

In second place: Banglamphu (also known as Banglampoo) in Bangkok, Thailand. Dubbed Bangkok's most charming quarter by Lonely Planet, it's a hub for globetrotters, locals, and the city's artistic-student community.

Third is Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—famous as “Little India.” Wander Indian shops and street food stalls offering options for every budget.

Surprisingly, fourth is the Quartier des Capucins in Bordeaux, France—the most beloved neighborhood in France among Airbnb guests. This walkable area near the bustling Capucins Market is a favorite for its charm and strollability.

Rounding out the top five: Koukaki in Athens, Greece. This quiet, budget-friendly enclave is just a 10-minute walk from the Acropolis, making it ideal for explorers.

Notably, no Paris neighborhoods made the cut. Which one will you visit? The choice is yours!
