Survey Reveals: Social Media Addiction Ruins Holidays and Relationships for 1 in 4 Couples

Excessive social media use during vacations can spark arguments and even relationship breakdowns for many couples this summer, according to a recent survey of over 1,000 married individuals. While most expected partners to handle work emails or calls, the top frustration was constant social media checking.

Over half of respondents reported partners sending work emails or taking calls on vacation, and more than a third noted devices like laptops or phones being brought along. Yet nearly 80% believed their partner maintained a solid work-life balance. Social media painted a starkly different picture: over 60% checked it at least once daily on vacation, a quarter several times a day, 2.6% '10x+ a day,' and 6.8% 'always.' More than a quarter felt frustrated or angry, perceiving their partner as distracted or disengaged during family time.
