According to a Corendon survey, more than four in ten Dutch people would choose a sunny holiday destination over Christmas dinner with relatives. About 30% remain undecided between a winter sun getaway and a four-course family meal, while 29% prioritize the family gathering. Notably, 10% plan to celebrate the holidays in the sun, favoring Curaçao and the Canary Islands.
Nearly one in ten Dutch will spend or skip Christmas and New Year's at a winter sun spot. Specifically, 2% celebrate only the New Year abroad, 4% only Christmas, and 4% both. February tops December (23%) as the preferred month for these trips.
Just 1% of travelers care little about the destination as long as it's warm and sunny. A quarter pick Curaçao as their top winter sun choice, with 18% opting for the Canary Islands' mild weather.
