Occasionally, I enjoy dining out, and recently I visited Greek restaurant Alexandros in Wageningen on Christmas Day—a welcome break from cooking.
I've long been a fan of Greek food, especially tzatziki. Over the years, I've explored spots like Anemos in Elst and Santorini in Waalwijk, with plans for more discoveries ahead.
Nestled in Wageningen, Alexandros is a family-run Greek restaurant with warm, inviting decor. Live music from the 80s and 90s plays twice monthly—check their website for dates. Otherwise, enjoy a varied playlist. Choose a la carte or a three-course menu; current promo: buy one three-course dinner, get the second free.
We dined via Social Deal at just €12.95 per three-course meal, valid over the holidays. I'd been eager to try this promising spot.
We started with a generous house appetizer: a board of tapenades, olives, and shrimp—delicious. For starters, I chose stuffed vine leaves and tuna salad from the ample selection. My go-to main is the mixed grill, perfect for meat lovers, with solid vegetarian options too.
Not your typical deal dessert, but a creamy dame blanche—I never turn down good ice cream.
Portions were ample and satisfying; no post-meal hunger here. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Update: Drinks are reasonably priced at €2.50 each (we had water); the initial baguettes were an extra charge.
Friendly staff provided prompt service despite the holiday bustle. The cozy space meant tables were close, but that's part of the authentic vibe—understandable on Christmas.
I highly recommend Alexandros: generous, fresh dishes and excellent service make it a standout.
