With temperatures nearing 40°C, I explored the shaded, colorful alleys of this historic former slave port. The old town's vibrant, tourist-friendly charm evokes a joyful Disneyland, but I pressed on to the lively Getsemaní district. Sundays erupt in street parties as locals blast music from sidewalk sound systems—some play dominoes, others enter their canaries in singing contests. Pure energy!
I then escaped to La Boquilla, an authentic Afro-Colombian village, where I delved into the nuances of percussion and learned dance steps inspired by animals. A peaceful mangrove boat tour followed, surrounded by curious birds. Serenity amid the rhythm.
