7 good reasons to (re)go to New Zealand #3

We treat ourselves to a cruise in a fjord in Milford Sound

The name is already a promise. Milford Sound is a majestic fjord punctuated by a concert of vertiginous waterfalls rising from walls over 1,500 m. In the rain, the waterfalls multiply, forming curtains of water of rare beauty. Well, that's what they say. Of the 250 days of rain a year, for once the weather was… good weather! As a result, few waterfalls and plenty of sunshine on the deck of the Milford Mariner transformed into a “Fun Cruise”. The crew of the boat takes us on a speed boat or a kayak, to get a closer look at seals, penguins and dolphins. This time, only the seals were present, basking on the rocks in the sun. In the evening, we fall asleep in the rolling waves under a magnificent starry sky. In the distance, a few cries of seals complete this romantic picture. In the early morning, the captain sets sail for the Tasman Sea, with more choppy waves. It wakes you up!

Where do we sleep? On the boat ! The family company Real Journeys organizes various cruises, including one night.
