Milford Sound lives up to its legendary reputation as a breathtaking fjord, framed by sheer walls soaring over 1,500 meters and cascading waterfalls. Rain typically amplifies the spectacle with hundreds of falls, but on our visit—amid 250 rainy days a year—we were blessed with rare clear skies. Fewer waterfalls meant more sunshine on the deck of the Milford Mariner, transformed into a lively 'Fun Cruise.' The expert crew whisked us closer via speedboat and kayak to spot seals, penguins, and dolphins. Seals stole the show, lounging on sun-warmed rocks. That evening, we drifted off to the gentle roll of waves under a brilliant starry sky, punctuated by distant seal calls. Come morning, the captain navigated choppier Tasman Sea waters—a perfect wake-up call!
