We tested the Cooks club Tigaki in Kos

What is the concept of the Cooks club?

The Cook’s Club are tailor-made hotels for Millennials…well, young people in general. It is found in Greece, Turkey, Crete, the island of Palma and Egypt. On the leaflet we are told that they are “designed for a new generation of travellers”. Our own definition is hotels for young people, Instagrammable, in the city and where you can party… all for not too much money.

A hotel without children (and old people)

Can we really ban a hotel for children? Yes because to come here you have to be over 16 years old and if the hotel offers suites, it does not offer family rooms. Older people are kept out by electronic programming and guest DJs. In the evening, the outdoor bar, atmosphere of the place and as the rooms overlook the swimming pool and the bar, we do not benefit from this tranquility which “our elders” wish to access. However, the music stops at midnight. We are still in a hotel.

How is the Cook's club Tigaki in Kos located?

Tigaki is a small seaside town which is located 10 km from Kos, the "Capital" of the island. The hotel is 3 minutes from the beach. It is a very decent sandy beach. Pleasant but not crazy either. Compared to many other hotels on the island, the Cook's club is well off. Many hotels on the eastern tip of the island opposite Turkey only have pebble beaches (which they try to cover with sand) to offer. A well-stocked supermarket is one minute away on the same street, you can rent a bike and scooter nearby too.

And where are we going for “party all night”?

We can of course take advantage of the hotel to party, but as we mentioned above, the hotel is located 10 km from Kos (the city). It is in its center around Nafklirou in what is called Barstreet (but where can this name come from?) that the nightlife of the island is in full swing. On some pedestrian streets there are only bars and clubs.

How are the rooms?

The hotel has only one floor, the majority of the rooms overlook the swimming pool and the open-air bar. Some have a view of the sea, although that doesn't add much here... They are quite spacious, the bathrooms are really neat. In short, unlike many design hotels where the rooms are much smaller in real life than in the photo, here you don't feel cramped. It's still important.

Inexpensive but not cheap

The Cook's club Tigaki of Kos wants to be accessible but above all not cheap. No first-price vodka or rum, the cocktails here are made with premium brands. The same attention is given to the dishes that are served in the restaurant. You can find them from 6 € and for less than 15 € you can build a mini mezzé. It's tasty, so much so that you could almost call it Greek bistronomy. We particularly enjoyed the mini kebabs and the fried cheese. Outside the period of July August you can book 7 nights for 2 with breakfast for 600 € quite easily. For a hotel with so much style, this is a really good offer.

Fun details

We leave with a couch.

If in some hotels we want to leave with the bathrobe, we would have left with all the decor. The rooms are simple, elegant and cozy. The emphasis is on natural materials, linen, waxed concrete, woven cane, raw wood, rattan (lots of rattan, but 2019 version). We spotted two three brands including HKliving and Muubs. At the time of writing these lines the hotel has just opened (April 2019) everything is new. It's beautiful.

To book.

You can go to the Thomas Cook website and book either a stay or a stay and the flight.
